The name is Jonathan Rashleigh Knight, but most of you remember me as one of the members of teen boyband sensation New Kids on the Block. Yeah, I was the oldest, shyest, and probably most incapable of handling fame. I guess for awhile I thought I'd be remembered as the guy who ended the ride, the man who called it quits, the crazy one. However, 15 years later I've come to prove that no one and no mental anguish can keep a New Kid down.
If you saw my brother and I on Oprah then you realized very quickly that I suffer from panic attacks. These panic attacks come on when I am in situations for which I am not certain of the outcome. They were controlling my life since performance anxiety was up at the top of the list. I couldn't walk on stage without feeling physically ill. I tried to hide it from the other men in the band until I could no longer control it. Jordan was suffering similar symptoms but not quite to the same extent. I walked onto the bus, and I quit one night. The band tried for a couple of weeks touring without me, but it wasn't the same so the whole band ended. It was the end of an era in our lives.
After the band, I spent about 4 years sleeping all day then all night. I rarely left the bed. I was severely depressed. I'd bought a farm, and I spent all of my time just being isolated. Eventually I came out of the funk. I started to raise animals, spend time on my tractor, and of course started my business. I'm not a realtor, which is what some fans confuse me for. I actually scout places and help make deals for large companies to build buildings. Its taken a lot of years, but now I feel like I'm on top of my game.
It was a few years ago when I agreed to do a one night only show with the guys as a reunion, which was saying something since I'd turned it down previously, but now it was Joe saying no. He wanted to do a full tour together. At first, it didn't look like that would be in the cards, however leave it to Wahlberg to hook us all in with a sweet song. We don't give anyone credit for the idea of getting back together, because it took a series of events to make it happen, but now that its here, it feels great. I'm glad to see the fans again, but I'd like to remind them I can't sleep on a moving vehichle so try not to attempt to kill me.
